Nourand Manifesto
Nutrition, Science, and Hope in Multiple Sclerosis
For more than twenty years, our work - and in many ways, our lives - have revolved around one central question: Why does multiple sclerosis develop, and how can we stop it?
Through decades of research across Spain, France, the United States, Germany, and Switzerland, we discovered that the gut microbiota can act as a trigger for multiple sclerosis. That insight led us to nutrition - to understand how what we eat can influence immune balance and open new paths for prevention and control.
Unlike medicines, which require prescriptions and medical supervision, food, diet, and nutritional supplements are accessible to everyone. This openness is empowering, yet it can also bring confusion - endless, often contradictory information can cause uncertainty instead of guidance.
Nourand was created to bridge this gap. We provide science-based knowledge and education, guided by internationally recognized experts in neuroimmunology and nutrition, to help people with multiple sclerosis make informed choices that truly support their health.
At the heart of Nourand stand two scientists who have dedicated their careers to understanding and improving the lives of people affected by this disease:
Dr. Mireia Sospedra Ramos
PhD in Biological Sciences, with over 20 years of research experience in leading institutions across Europe and the United States. She brings a unique combination of expertise in immunology, communication, and nutrition - holding master's degrees in both scientific communication and nutrition - and serves as the bridge between cutting-edge research and practical application.
Dr. Roland Martin
MD, a neurologist and neuroimmunologist of international recognition, with over 400 publications in journals such as Cell, Nature, and Science. His pioneering work has led to the development of several therapies for multiple sclerosis and continues to shape the global understanding of the disease's immune mechanisms.
Together, they guide Nourand's mission to make nutrition a reliable ally in the fight against multiple sclerosis - translating research into action, complexity into clarity, and science into hope.
We believe that:
- Understanding is the first step to empowerment.
- Nutrition is not an alternative to medicine, but a fundamental partner to it.
- Every individual deserves access to clear, evidence-based information.
- Scientific rigor and empathy must go hand in hand.
Nourand - guided by science, driven by care.
